An Exhibition in Lace
An exhibit to explore and educate about the history of lace making and how we decide what is craft and what is art.
For: Typography III, George Brown College
Scope: 4.25” x 5” laser-cut zine with watercolour inserts, 3 18” x 24” posters.
The project aims to explore the history of lace making and how the classification as “craft” has been used to diminish women’s creative pursuits. The design balances treating lace making with respect while ensuring it is accessible and inviting to the public. I embedded the project with historical elements, from the typefaces to the cyanotype-inspired imagery, drawing inspiration from lace sample books.
